2019 White Water Rafting Trip

A break from the rapids on the Lower Youghiogheny

The white water rafting trip was very fun and a favorite of most scouts in our troop. We separated into two groups driving to the campsite on Friday evening. The first group left at 1:00 PM and arrived to the campsite at 6:00 PM. The second group left at 6:00 PM and arrived at roughly 10:00 PM. Then on Saturday morning we all woke up at 7:00 AM started making our breakfast for the day and left the campsite at 10:00 AM to drive to the white water outfitters (Laurel Highlands). Before we left we separated into two driving groups one for each trip that was going. The first group would be going on the middle yough. The middle yough was the first trip that everyone did and it was the easier of the two. The second group would be doing the lower yough which requires (troop rules) you to be either twelve years old with white water experience on the middle yough or fourteen years old. This group would also be doing the harder trip. While each group went into separate groups (6 in each raft) Both groups had a lot of fun. We then went to the town of Ohiopyle and bought ice cream and hung out talking about how much fun we all had on our trip. After this we went back to the campsite cooked and ate dinner and hung out for the rest of the night. Sunday morning we packed up real quick ate a quick breakfast and then headed out for the road making back at 12:30 PM. While this camping trip has been a challenge to some I have personally never heard anyone say they regretted going down the river with our troop. -Aiden
