N.S. Savannah & Nuclear Science

Thanks to everyone who came out today and participated in our visit to the N.S. Savannah in support of the Nuclear Science merit badge. The Savannah was the world’s first nuclear powered merchant ship and we were lucky enough to be able to see the actual reactor, which we’re told has only recently been made available to guests.
The crew and volunteers were all extremely knowledgeable and engaging, and we certainly appreciate them taking time out of their schedules to help us better understand the role nuclear science plays in the world.
